Deviation Actions
I like brushes and textures - not sure why- but I do. One of the things I've played with in the past is creating what I call 'brush wheels.' For example I'll combine several weed and plant brushes in a wheel, then set the brush to 'rotation' and paint away. To illustrate I went to midnightstouch DeviantArt page, used a few of his plant brushes to create a wheel like this.
Then I set the brush angle to rotation (you can play with other settings of course), and quickly paint a nice mixed row of plants.
Simple. I know - but sometimes the simplest tricks can be very useful.
Art vs Necromancers
I just watched a couple of episodes of a subtitled Russian TV show entitled The Day After. Other than language, the content, story, youth and city scenes could just as easily have been here in the USA. Decades after the cold war there are still those who demonize other countries and we end up with a cartoonish, and grossly distorted view, of the other people we share the world with. People are people. At a primal level our wants and needs are the same. I am convinced that art offers a more honest diplomacy than politics and is able to dispel the mists and shadows of the fear-mongers, our 'real world' necromancers, to show that we are not all
The Man Who Would Be King
Well, I've grown pretty sick of politics the past few years. Politicians so extreme and their statements so ludicrous, as they beat the drums of fear, hate and ignorance. Our democracy is not in danger from a a dozen, or even hundreds of fanatics with swords or bombs. The danger I see is the division of the nation caused by the extreme positions, fear mongering, lies and xenophobia of self serving politicians and those in power. Change the clothes and language and a lot of our own politicians are spouting the same message as the fanatics - hate hate hate, fear fear fear, nationalism nationalism nationalism etc. This is the true enemy of democ

The Stories We Tell
Sometimes we forget, as we travel through our lives, that everything we see is itself a complete story and not just a prop, a page or a sentence in our personal narrative.
What type of people would we be if we read more than the covers of the books we pass on the street?
Who would we become if we could more fully see the prologues, chapters and epilogues of the people and things we share the world with?
We are surrounded by a universe far richer than we imagine. Each rock, each tree, each person, is itself a world worthy of consideration, wonder and respect.
